Experts from the Visayan Electric Company (VECO) are the speakers of the first TECHTALK session of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) on January 17, 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Conference Room 1 of DOST 7 in Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City.

TECHTALK is a series of discussions on energy efficiency and cleaner production under the SMART (SME’s for Environment Accountability, Responsibility, and Transparency¬) Cebu Project currently implemented by ECCP. The project aims to promote cleaner environment and crease competitiveness of Cebu’s lifestyle sector represented by Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation, Cebu Gifts Toys and Housewares, and Cebu FAME Foundation.

The first of the series of sessions for TECHTALK is dubbed Electricity 101: Understanding the Electricity Bill.

Topics will include basic concepts on consumer services, components of electricity billing, efficient energy usage, energy saving tips, system enhancement, and demand management.

Henry Schumacher, ECCP Executive Vice-President, emphasizes: “A sustainable approach to doing business promotes a combination of resource efficiency and cleaner production… thus leading to increased savings.”

ECCP is a bilateral foreign chamber that promotes European interests in the Philippines as well as Philippine interests in Europe. It is a business service provider that assists its member companies in trade fairs, trainings, business consultancy and business matching and, events management. It is also a strong advocate of ethical business practices and sustainable development.

Electricity 101 speakers are Louie Collera and Dennis Verallo, Power Systems and Planning Department Officer-in-Charge and Utility Economics Supervisor of VECO, respectively.

The event is open to everyone interested in understanding the electricity bill and how energy savings would contribute to total profitability of business.

A minimal fee of P350 for ECCP member companies and P450 for non-member companies is charged to cover cost of the event. Heavy snacks will be served.
