Kabibi

Kabibi, the Chinese pond mussel or Eastern Asiatic freshwater clam (Sinanodonta woodiana), is a species of freshwater mussel in the family of river mussels. The species is native to temperature and tropical Eastern Asia, primarily the Amur and Yangtze basins, and is also widely available in Asia, Europe and America. It is one of the fresh water mussels that have been introduced around the world.

Kabibi shells can reach the size of 30 cm and they are found at an altitude of 0 to 1,182 meters. The shell is gathered in muddy sediment of slow running rivers to eutrophic ponds. Applying the material for products provides economic gains to communities collecting the Kabibi shell.
